Escape the Winter Chill: Affordably Fly from New Jersey to Florida
Discount Carriers have improved service and offer more flights to Florida

As winter sets in and the temperatures drop, many residents of New Jersey, find themselves dreaming of warmer climates. Escaping the snow and cold for the sunny beaches of Florida makes a lot of sense, and it doesn’t have to break the bank. I know as I fly the Florida routes about 20 times a year.
Traveling can be expensive, especially with a family, and New Jersey’s high cost of living often doesn’t leave much left over in the budget. There is an often overlooked option with discount airlines. Spirit Airlines and other discount carriers are making it easier and more
affordable than ever during these times of high inflation.
The two most common routes flown out of Newark Liberty International Airport are to Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale, giving you the choice of a theme park or beach vacation. Flying on the most frequently flown routes gives you the most flexibility and a shot at the best prices.

These discount carriers are most likely where you will find the best deals. They are Spirit Airlines, Frontier Airlines, and Allegiant Airlines. Most of your best options will be out of Newark, but don’t forget to check Atlantic City and Trenton. These small regional airports offer many amenities, including cheap parking. If you are going to fly out of Newark (EWR), I highly recommend using offsite parking like ABC Parking in Elizabeth.
Now, I know the budget airlines have a bad reputation for hidden fees, but that was all fixed as of September 2024. Now, the ultra-low-cost carriers offer bundles and packages to make sure you get the best deal with no surprise hidden fees. These bundles often include seat upgrades that make American, Delta or United look ridiculously overpriced.

For Example with Spirit you can often get the Big Front Seat which is the same size as a United First Class seat for around $170 more each way which includes carry on bag, checked bag, free WiFi, free snacks, check in VIP line, early boarding, free alcohol and a massive seat at the front of the plane.
Whether you’re heading to the theme parks in Orlando, the vibrant beaches of Fort Lauderdale, or any one of Florida’s many beaches, consider booking your next winter getaway with Spirit Airlines, Frontier, or Allegiant. With their low-cost fares, escaping the winter chill has never been more convenient or affordable.
I strongly believe people should travel more if they want and using the discount carriers out of New Jersey offers individuals and families alike more go for their dollars.
