House Slated For Demolition Damaged In Mendham Twp Fire

It took 40 firefighters about an hour to extinguish the flames.

MENDHAM, NJ — A house slated for demolition was damaged in a fire Friday afternoon, Brookside Engine Co. 1 Fire Chief Nicholas Witczak said.

The fire started around 2 p.m. on Jan. 11 in the Mount Pleasant Road home's chimney. It quickly spread to the rest of the house, causing heavy smoke.

Contractors were working on the home at the time of the fire, getting it ready to be demolished. No one was injured, Witczak said.
