Hunting Regulations Announced For Mendham Twp.'s 2025-26 Season

Both shotgun hunting and bow and arrow hunting regulations have been adopted by the Mendham Township Committee.

MENDHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Mendham Township Committee has announced the regulations for the upcoming 2025 hunting season.

The Committee adopted Resolution 2025-127 at its Monday night meeting, which was brought to officials from the Wildlife Management Committee.

According to the resolution, the Wildlife Management Committee has recommended that deer and game hunting, as well as fishing, be regulated according to a specific schedule and in specific areas.

Shotgun Hunting From Tree Stands

Shotgun hunting from tree stands is only permitted for residents, employees, and former employees from the Mendhams, Chesters, Harding Township, and Randolph, according to the ordinance.

This type of hunting is permitted in Burnett Brook, Buttermilk Falls, Dismal Harmony, Dos Passos, India Brook, Meadowood Preserve, and Mosle Preserve, the resolution states.

  • Nov. 22, 2025
  • Dec. 8, 2025 – Dec. 13, 2025
  • Jan. 3, 9, 10, 17, 23, 24, 31, 2026

Clyde Potts Reservoir hunting dates:

  • Dec. 8, 2025 – Dec. 13, 2025
  • Jan. 10, 17, 24, 31, 2026

Hunting locations will be closed to the public during the above dates. All hunting is only permitted from dusk till dawn.

Bow And Arrow Deer Hunting From Tree Stands Over Bait

Bow and arrow hunters are permitted to hunt deer from tree stands over bait in Burnett Brook, Buttermilk Falls, Cold Hill Preserve, Dismal Harmony, Dos Passos, India Brook, Meadowood Preserve, Mosle Preserve, Tempe Wick, and Wysong Natural Area, according to the resolution.

Bow and arrow hunting is permitted in the above areas from Sept. 13, 2025, to Feb. 14, 2026, excluding Sundays.

Hunting permits are required and are issued at the discretion of the Mendham Township Chief of Police.

“The Mendham Township hunting permit does not automatically give you permission to hunt within the Township park system,” a statement read. “You must be scheduled and given permission to hunt within the Township park system. The park hunts are strictly controlled to avoid overcrowding of hunters and promote the safe harvesting of game.”
