Local Business Owner's Death Leaves Chester Mourning

CHESTER, NJ — A local business owner and longtime community member died last week at the age of 84.

Catherine Cecilia McLaughlin, of Chester Township, passed away peacefully on Feb. 14, 2023, at Morristown Medical Center. Catherine was born on November 20, 1938, in Morristown, to the late Arthur and Marie (Early) West, her obituary reads.

She has lived in Chester since 1958 and was the owner of Pleasant Pools in town. Catherine was a devoted parishioner at St. Lawrence Parish in Chester, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and member of the rosary society.

McLaughlin was also a board member of C.A.S.H. (Chester Area Senior Housing), as well as a member of the Historic Chester Business Association.

She is survived by her four devoted children, Catherine Bruen, Maureen Papili and her husband Anthony, Raymond McLaughlin and his wife Lisa, and William McLaughlin and his wife Helen, ten loving grandchildren, nine cherished great-grandchildren, four siblings, Greg West, Mary Lou Ball, Regina Townsend and Vincent West, and by many other loving family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond McLaughlin, and by four siblings, Arthur West, Dorothy Sample, Stephen West and Peter West.
