Man Killed By Morris County Driver ID'd By Police

A 64-year-old man was killed when a vehicle driven by a Morris County resident veered off Route 46 and struck him.

HACKETTSTOWN , NJ — Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed last week when a Morris County driver veered off the road and struck him on a sidewalk.

Shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle outside the CVS Pharmacy at 85 Main St.

Authorities said a 2018 GMC Canyon, driven by 61-year-old resident of Flanders, was traveling westbound on Route 46 when it veered off the road and struck the pedestrian on the sidewalk.

The pedestrian, later identified as 64-year-old Roynaldo Tabeta of Independence Township, was rushed to Hackettstown Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The Morris County driver was also taken to Hackettstown Medical Center for a medical evaluation, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation.
