Mendham, Chester Primary 2019 Results

All of the local elections in the Mendhams and Chesters are uncontested this June.

MENDHAM, NJ — Primary Election Day is here in the Mendhams and Chesters, and all of the local races are uncontested. All the candidates that appear on the primary ballot will be on the general election ballot come November.

All vote tallies are unofficial until certified by the election clerk.

Chester Township

The mayoral race in Chester Township will see the following candidates run in the general election:

  • Republican Marcia Asdal (incumbent) 37
  • Democrat James G. Duffy 43

Chester Borough

In Chester Borough, the following two Republicans will be on the ballot this November for two Council seats. Here are how many votes they received:

  • Karen Ferrone 62
  • Russell Goodwin 59

No Democrats are running. A single write-in vote was cast, but information on for whom was not immediately available.

Mendham Borough

The election in Mendham Borough is uncontested. Two Republicans and one Democrat have filed for their parties two nominations. The candidates will then face off in the general election; two three-year terms are up for grabs. The following candidates have filed:

  • Republican James R. Kelly (incumbent) 354
  • Republican Mary Sue Martin 340
  • Democrat Melissa Young 197

Seventy-two write-in votes were filed for the second Democratic nomination, but information on for whom was not immediately available.

Current councilman David Sharkey has not filed for reelection; his term expires at the end of the year.

Mendham Township

The election in Mendham Township is uncontested. Two Republicans and two Democrats are running for their parties two nominations. If elected in the general election, they will serve for three years. The following candidates received the following votes:

  • Republican Jordan Orlins 359
  • Republican Thomas Baio 376
  • Democrat Melissa Saharko 250
  • Democrat Ryan Guthrie 250

All candidates are newcomers. Current Committeeman Richard P. Diegnan, Jr. and current Mayor Warren Gisser are not running for reelection; their terms expire at the end of the year.
