Mendham High School Alum, Former Basketball Team Manager Dies at 41

Mike Gerard was beloved by those who knew him.

The Mendham resident died suddenly recently at the age of 41.

Gerard and his family moved to Mendham in 1984. He was an avid sports fan and knew every New York Yankees’ batting average and also had a substantial card collection. While at Mendham High School, Gerard served as the basketball team’s manager before graduating in 1993.

After graduating Rutgers University and Cook College Gerard went on to work for Marriott and then Tilcon as a scale operator / dispatcher.

Gerard was a loyal son and grandson, amazing brother, loving cousin and nephew, and great friend, his obituary said.

Memorial donations can be made to a scholarship fund in Gerard’s name and can be mailed to Joseph Gerard, 5 Hampshire Drive, Mendham, NJ 07945.
