MENDHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ — Mendham Township's annual July 4 fireworks celebration could fizzle out without support from the community, the recreation director said.

The department is looking to raise $10,000 by May 1, so they are able to secure the necessary contractors for the event.

Recreation Director David Guida said the department is "unable to commit" to this year's fireworks "without community-wide support and fundraising."

This would be the fifth year for the celebration, which the Recreation Department has been able to fund with donations and small allocations from their Trust Fund. The township has held fundraisers in the past for the fireworks show, which is not included in the municipal budget.
