Mendham Library To Celebrate The Life Of Acclaimed Novelist

The event is celebrating 250 years of the esteemed author.

MENDHAM TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Mendham Township Library is holding a special celebration for one of the most famed writers in history next week.

The library will be honoring the 250 years of Jane Austen, the English novelist known for her works including “Pride and Prejudice” and “Mansfield Park.”

The writer, born on December 16, 1775, captured early feminism through witty and groundbreaking social commentary. Her six books, though not particularly popular during her lifetime, have become classics in the genre. Now, her stories are taught in schools, developed into screenplays, and celebrated throughout the reading and writing world.
