Mendham Nun Passes Away

Sister Mary Louis Schuster, SCC, entered eternal life on the Feast of Mary’s Assumption, August 15, 2018 at the age of 90.

Sister Mary Louis (Marie Louis) was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Louis and Miriam (Staib) Schuster. Sister entered the community of the Sisters of Christian Charity on September 8, 1946 and made her final profession on August 20, 1955.

Sister taught at West Catholic High School, Philadelphia, prior to being educated at St. Louis University in the field of laboratory science. She spent many years as the Director of the Laboratory at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania and at Divine Providence Hospital, Williamsport, Pennsylvania. After her many years in healthcare, she was missioned to Holy Family Convent in 2000 and in May of 2018 Sister transferred to the new Motherhouse in Mendham, New Jersey.

Sister Mary Louis is survived by several nieces and nephews and her community of the Sisters of Christian Charity.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 20th at 11 AM at the Motherhouse with viewing on Sunday, August 19 from 2-4 PM and from 7-9 PM with Evening Prayer at 7PM.
Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery at the Motherhouse following the liturgy.
