Mendham Scout Attains Eagle Rank With Sustainable Vegetable Garden

Patrick James honored by the Morris County Board of Freeholders.

MENDHAM, N.J. – Patrick James wanted to help others now, with a vision of helping in the futrue.

The Mendham resident and Boy Scout with Troop 109 in Randolph recently achieved his Eagle Scout award and was honored by the Morris County Board of Freeholders.

James created a sustainable vegetable garden for the Sisters of Christian Charity at Mallinckrodt Convent in Mendham. He was moved to the build the garden after witnessing the generosity and kindness offered by the Sisters to his community during and after Superstorm Sandy, the county said.

“We are honored to present a certificate to this young man who is a future leaders of our county,’’ said Freeholder Director Kathy DeFillippo. “The project this young man completed to become an Eagle Scout took a great deal time and commitment on his part.
