Mendham Township Police Warn Against Online Shopping Scams
The most wonderful time of the year also creates opportunities for thieves, authorities said.
MENDHAM, NJ - With the holiday season in full swing, the Mendham Township Police want to make everyone aware of potential scams that come to the forefront during this time of year.
Residents should consider:
- With online shopping becoming more and more prevalent, be careful of what links you are selecting and websites you are browsing.
- Most internet browsers will indicate if a website is secure via a lockbox/padlock located in the url bar.
Police also said to be aware of IRS scams this time of year especially. The IRS rarely, if ever, will reach out to you. If you do find yourself receiving a phone call from the IRS, they recommend going to their website (IRS.gov) and attempt to contact them via the phone number they have listed on their website.
