Francesca Voyles, now a freshman at West Morris Mendham High School, was named Mendham Township Middle School’s 2024 Unsung Hero by the Morris County and New Jersey School Boards Associations. The annual award honors sixth, eighth and twelfth graders who demonstrate quiet leadership, resilience, and strong citizenship—qualities Francesca’s exemplified throughout her time at MTMS. Teachers and staff described her as a student whose strength often speaks through action rather than applause.

As captain of her middle school soccer team, Francesca stepped up to play goalkeeper—a critical and challenging role—when her team needed it most. Her leadership on the field was matched by her academic achievement, earning placement in Honors Algebra 1. Known for offering help to classmates and creating an inclusive, encouraging atmosphere, Francesca earned the respect of peers and faculty alike, prompting school staff to nominate her for the statewide honor.

Now in high school, Francesca continues to shine both in and out of the classroom. She recently contributed to West Morris Mendham High School’s mock trial team as a plaintiff witness during its 20th consecutive county championship win, and is also a member of the school’s varsity track and field team.

Whether in the classroom or with her teammates, Francesca’s dedication, leadership and humility remain the hallmarks of her growing legacy.

The future is certainly looking bright in Mendham-Chester! If you know another Star Student making an impact, nominate them today to be featured on Patch!
