Mendhams, Chesters Named Top Towns For NJ Families: Report
The four municipalities were named some of the best for families in the state— and one was in the top five.

MENDHAM BOROUGH, NJ – The Mendhams and Chesters are among some of the best towns for families in New Jersey, according to a new ranking published by New Jersey Family magazine.
The magazine looked at towns with more than 1,500 residents, and took into account several key factors, including average home sale price, crime rates, school performance, commute time, and diversity. They then took that data to find the different rankings, including the best overall, best for commuters, and best large, mid-sized, and small towns.
Here's how the four municipalities were ranked on the overall list:

- 34. Mendham Borough
- 39. Chester Township
- 55. Chester Borough
Mendham Township earned the distinction of being the top Morris County town for families, the magazine said. They described it as "the kind of place where the cashiers at Kings on East Main St. recognize you immediately, and where Back to School night is more an end-of-summer reunion. Residents love the fact that it’s such a peaceful, quiet town without much traffic."
Mendham Borough, and the Chesters were also in the top ten best towns in Morris County.
