As of Friday afternoon, officials reported that three structures are threatened by the fire. While no roads are closed, drivers are urged to exercise caution in the area. "When driving on Green Pond Road, please be extra careful with fire department traffic," the fire department said.

This fire comes shortly after a wildfire burned through 77 acres near Jacobs Road in Rockaway Township, amid ongoing high fire danger across the state due to weeks of dry conditions.

The fire warning is currently classified as extreme, and Morris County is under a Red Flag Warning, according to the service.

A Red Flag Warning indicates that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring or are expected soon due to a combination of strong winds, low humidity and dry fuels. Any fires that develop could quickly escalate and become difficult to control.
