New Mayor, Deputy Mayor Sworn In To Serve Mendham Township
Mendham Township Committeewoman Amalia Duarte was also sworn in for a third term during the annual reorganization meeting.

MENDHAM, NJ — A new mayor will take the helm and lead Mendham Township.
At the Mendham Township Reorganization meeting, which was held on Jan. 4, Sarah Neibart, who has been a public servant since 2018, was appointed mayor. She previously served as mayor in 2020 and 2021 and most recently held the title of deputy mayor for 2023.
On Thursday, Lauren Spirig, who was elected to the committee in 2022, became the first Democratic deputy mayor in Mendham Township's history.

Democrat Amalia Duarte was also sworn in for a third term on the township committee. Duarte beat out Republican candidate Elisa Wyman for the seat in the November election.
"So excited to be sworn into my third term last night, surrounded by family! Thank you Mendham Township for putting your trust in me to continue serving our community," Duarte said.

Previously, Duarte told Patch that one of the township's top priorities for the coming year is deciding whether to keep the Open Space Tax when the township's debt obligations on previous land acquisitions expire at the end of 2024.
The next Township Committee meeting is currently scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mendham Township Middle School, 16 Washington Valley Rd., Brookside.
Since it's the new year, Mendham Township also set its 2024 municipal meeting schedule.
