Officer Still Hospitalized After Mendham Twp. Cop Car, Tractor-Trailer Crash
Second officer released Wednesday morning, police said.

MENDHAM TWP., N.J. – One police officer has been released from the hospital and another is still being treated after a two-car crash involving a patrol car and tractor-trailer injured two Tuesday night.
Mendham Township officers Robert Kalweit and Jason Hensley were on patrol when they were struck by a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Route 24 and Corey Lane just before 8 p.m., Lt. Ross Johnson said.

Both officers were taken to Morristown Medical Center for treatment of their injuries, and the driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured but “extremely cooperative,” Johnson said.
One of the officers was released Wednesday morning and the other is still being treated for non-life threatening injuries, Johnson said. Police would not divulge which of the officers remained hospitalized.

The incident is still under investigation by the Mendham Township Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, and no charges have been made as of yet.
