Police 'Fishing Frenzy' Competition Returns To Mendham This Spring
Junior anglers are welcome to cast their lines for several types of trout at the fourth year of this community event.
MENDHAM BOROUGH, NJ — Calling all young anglers — Mendham Borough Police will hold their Fishing Frenzy again this May for local kids to reel in some trout.
The Fishing Frenzy will take place on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mountain Valley Park on Mountain Avenue in Mendham Borough, rain or shine, according to officials. It is open to all kids under the age of 16.
State law requires that anyone between the ages of 16-69 must have a fishing license.

All children will be able to fish in the park pond, which will be stocked with rainbow trout, golden trout, and monster trout. There will also be hot dogs, potato chips, soda, water, and ice cream.
Although there is no fee, participants must sign in before fishing, police said. According to state law, each fisherman may keep up to six trout that measure nine inches or longer.

Lures and three-prong hooks are not permitted for safety reasons. Anyone caught using a lure or a three-prong hook will be asked to leave.
Anyone who owns a fishing pole is encouraged to bring it and join the cops for food, fun and fishing.
