CHESTER, NJ — The NJ State Forest Fire will be conducting prescribed burns in Chester Thursday morning.
The burns will start at 9 a.m. near 200 Pottersville Road, Bamboo Brook Park, and Willowwood Arboretum. Residents might notice some smoke in the area.
Controlled burns prevent the risk of forest fires by burning vegetative fuels, like falls trees and dried leaves, in a controlled manner. The Morris County Parks Commission has been working with the state to conduct controlled burns in the county since 2010.
