Ralston Playground Opening Pushed Back

The rain won't ruin the celebration— just push it back a week.

MENDHAM, NJ — A rainy weekend forced the delay of the Ralston Playground Grand opening party this weekend.

Instead of the scheduled date, the reopening will now be held on Sunday, May 5 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A special ribbon cutting ceremony will take place, and there will be food trucks, face painting, stilt walkers, balloon artists, and music. Local first responders will hold a mini touch a truck event.

The playground was shuttered after a harsh winter in 2014 caused damage and safety issues. Much of the equipment needed to be replaced as a result. $98,000 was raised in funds by the community, and another $42,000 in new debt and $40,000 from the town's capital improvement fund were given to help fund the effort.
