School Board Elections 2024: See Candidates For Chester, West Morris
Monday was the deadline for candidates to submit petitions to run for school board. Take a look who filed for local and regional elections:

CHESTER, NJ — The 2024 general election will likely be a high-turnout year with a presidential race on the ballot. But there will also be local decisions to be made on Nov. 5 in the Board of Education races for both Chester Schools and the West Morris Regional High School District.
Monday was the deadline for all candidates to submit their petitions to run for school board this November.
Residents in Chester Borough will see choices for both the K-8 school district and the regional high school district, which also has members from Mendham Borough, Mendham Township, and Washington Township.

Chester Township's seat on the regional board is not up for re-election this year.
Below is a list of candidates, and a campaign slogan if they submitted one. All information comes from the Morris County Clerk's office, and these positions are three-year terms unless stated otherwise.

Chester School District (vote for 3)
- Sarah Schultz (incumbent)
- John Barounis, "Proven Traditional Leadership" (incumbent)
- Amy Buck Faundez, "Every Child Matters"
Current Chester Schools board member Matthew Downs' term expires at the end of this year, but he was not among the candidates listed.
West Morris Regional High School District, Chester Borough representative (vote for 1)
- Debbie L. Gonzalez
- Susan Siller Reuter, "Chester Family Values"
The current Chester Borough representative, Donald Storms, was not among the candidates listed; he has been on the regional board since 2012.
Positions on school boards in towns in New Jersey are unpaid; board members help determine how educational resources and taxes are allocated and spent, and work with educators and administrators to plan the future of the district.
Early voting will take place from Saturday, Oct. 26 through Sunday, Nov. 3. The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 5.
