The 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the one-mile fun run starting at 10 a.m. Volunteers will be tossing colored corn starch on the street for the color run as runners pass by (though not in residential neighborhoods).

Road closures and route information

The 5K race course for the 5K begins on Main Street (near Church Street) and goes over to Budd Avenue, turning on Orange Street and running along Grove Street, Maple Avenue, and Seminary Avenue over to Route 24, then back on Grove to Cherry Street.

Then, the race course comes back to Budd Avenue and onto Hillside Road, turning onto Hedges Road and Ridge Road, a quick left on Hillside up to Ammerman Way, around the loop on Ammerman, and over to Collis Lane where the race course ends at the park.

Police said Main Street (C.R. 513) will be closed on April 27 from 7:30 a.m. until about 11 a.m., between U.S. 206 and Church Street. Drivers are asked to use Maple Avenue to Seminary Avenue, then take Fairmount Avenue to Sentry Lane as a detour.

"PLEASE drive with caution in the area, as runners of all ages will be participating, especially if you need to access the Shadow Ridge development!" police said.

The Spring Stampede is also a fundraiser for the Educational Foundation of the Chesters, which works to enrich the educational experience for all Chester schoolchildren.
