See Project Timeline For Upgrades At Both West Morris Regional Schools

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Voters approved a referendum in November to fund improvements at both West Morris Regional High School District buildings, and now officials shared more information on when those projects will take place.

District officials said both schools will receive significant upgrades including making all classrooms air conditioned, cafeteria and kitchen improvements, and roof and parking lot repairs.

The $26 million referendum also funds updates to both schools' technology labs, and renovations of shower and storage facilities at both high school field houses.

The West Morris Mendham culinary arts room will be refurbished to improve student learning and meet student interest, and the public address system will be upgraded to match Central's.

In her June newsletter, Superintendent Dr. Barbara Sargent provided a timeline for these upcoming projects at West Morris Mendham and West Morris Central.

"With the successful passage of the district’s Referendum Vote, we’ve been meeting with the district architects to define a project timeline and engage in all the necessary planning to get these projects started," she explained.

Here is the scheduled timeline and completion dates, according to the superintendent:

Summer 2024

• PA system upgrades at WMM; substantial completion by fall 2024.

Winter 2024/25

• (After fall sports season) Renovate showers in men's and women's locker rooms at both field houses; projected completion by March 2025.

Summer 2025

• HVAC upgrades at both high schools (with second shift work while school is in session); substantial completion by fall 2025.
• Culinary Arts classroom renovation at WMM; projected completion by August 2025.
• Kitchen/cafeteria improvements and roof replacement at both high schools; projected completion by August 2025.

Summer 2026

• STEM classroom renovations and asphalt replacement/repaving at both high schools; projected completion by August 2026.
