See What's Planned For Chester's Annual 'National Night Out' In August

This free community event will include police and emergency services displays and demonstrations, games, food, activities and more.

CHESTER, NJ — In just a few weeks, Chester will host an evening of family fun during the annual National Night Out, which is dedicated to raising emergency awareness and fostering relationships between first responders and the people they serve.

All residents of Chester Borough and Chester Township are invited to come to the event for food, ice cream, games, and live demonstrations by local emergency service departments.

This year's National Night Out is Wednesday, Aug. 7 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Municipal Field Gazebo at 155 Main Street in Chester Borough.

Chester Police, the Volunteer Fire Company, the Chester First Aid Squad, and the Morris County Sheriff's Office are among the local first responders that will be at the event, which is organized through Chester Recreation.

The event starts at 6 p.m., with an 8 p.m. showing of the 2023 Disney animated musical "Wish," which has Ariana DeBose, Alan Tudyk, and Chris Pine among the voice cast. Attendees are welcome to bring a blankets and some snacks to settle in for the show.

National Night Out aims to improve relationships between neighbors and law enforcement, while restoring a sense of community. It is intended to provide an opportunity for police and neighbors to work together in a positive setting.

"We welcome you and your family to join us for a night of fun as we continue to build a community partnership for a safer, better place to live!" organizers said.
