Snow, Low Wind Chills Could Hit Mendham, Chester

MENDHAM, NJ — Another round of snow has been forecast for the Mendham and Chester areas overnight Wednesday into Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory through 11 a.m. on Thursday, with the potential for three inches of snow possible, creating the possibility of slippery road conditions for the morning commute as roads thaw and then re-freeze.

The storm is likely begin as rain on Wednesday night before it transitions to snow overnight into Thursday, the National Weather Service forecasts.

Ahead of the storm, Mendham Township Police alerted drivers that roads could be slippery and they should "drive with care and allow extra time" for their Thursday morning commute.

They also reminded drivers that they should not leave their cars unattended as they warm them up, with car thieves targeting cars left idling:

A temperature drop is expected to follow on Thursday, plunging from 25 to 8 degrees overnight into Friday, with the possibility of wind chills hovering around -2 on Thursday night.

Through Thursday Morning: Rain likely before 3am, then rain and snow between 3am and 4am, then snow after 4am. Low around 29. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Thursday: Snow, mainly before 10am. Temperature falling to around 25 by 5pm. North wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 8. Wind chill values as low as -2. North wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 21. Wind chill values as low as -3. North wind 5 to 10 mph.

Friday Night: A slight chance of snow after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 7. North wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: A slight chance of snow before 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 24. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 13.
