Suspect Wanted For Chester Burglary Attempt Has Been Found: Police

Police reported that the suspect, who had an outstanding arrest warrant, was taken into custody in Hudson County late last week.

CHESTER, NJ — A suspect wanted for attempted burglary in Chester earlier this year has finally been arrested, according to police.

The Chester Police Department reported that on Friday, officers from Hudson County informed them that a suspect with an outstanding arrest warrant from Chester had been apprehended and was being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

The suspect, whose identity has not been released, is linked to an attempted burglary that occurred on Feb. 26 at a home on Ashland Terrace.

According to police, around 12:30 a.m., two suspects scaled a perimeter fence to access a home. However, when they tried to enter the garage, they found the door locked, prompting them to flee before the police arrived.

With help from local and federal law enforcement agencies, officers said they were able to identify one of the suspects using video footage from residential security cameras.

An arrest warrant was later issued, charging the suspect with attempted burglary, attempted theft of a motor vehicle valued over $75,000, conspiracy to commit burglary, conspiracy to commit theft of a motor vehicle valued over $75,000 and possession of burglary tools.

According to police, the suspect is still being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility on Chester's warrant, as well as additional warrants issued by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, Hunterdon County Sheriff’s Office and Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office for similar offenses.
