Town Hall Renovations Continue In Mendham Township
The municipal building in Mendham Township is currently undergoing a complete transformation.
MENDHAM, NJ — Construction work on the Mendham Township municipal building is well underway, according to an update from township officials.
The municipal building is currently undergoing a complete transformation, and while no completion date has been announced, officials previously said that the renovations are proceeding on schedule.
"The work being done is designed to preserve historical parts of the building while making town hall and the library more functional for all," township officials said.

Township Administrator Jason Gabloff previously told Patch that the project is slated to take about one year to complete.
The township recently launched a town hall color palette survey to determine the exterior color of the building. Last Monday, gray was voted the winner of the majority of votes cast by residents.

Authorized improvements in the approved renovation project include a major remodel of the nearly century-old Town Hall, which houses the municipal offices and the library.
According to a township statement, the space will require a new roof, HVAC system, new paint and flooring throughout, as well as two new bathrooms that will comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The library will be expanded under the new plans, which will necessitate the removal of the original front staircase, according to Gabloff. Asbestos removal is also necessary throughout the building, as is other demolition work in the library and upstairs portion of the building.
While construction continues in the Mendham Township municipal building, all administrative offices have been temporarily relocated to the former police station. According to officials, the former police station on Cherry Lane is in good shape, as the roof was repaired several years ago and the interior walls recently got a fresh coat of paint.
When their temporary stay is over, the Township Committee will look into the possibility of repurposing the old police station.

Last fall, Mayor Nick Monaghan appointed former deputy mayor Tom Baio and committeewoman Amalia Duarte to brainstorm ideas for repurposing the old police station building rather than just tearing it down.
A survey was also distributed throughout the township, asking residents if they wanted to proceed with the repurposing project.
According to Duarte, nearly 70 percent of the community members who responded to the survey voted in favor of redesigning the space as a community center of some kind.
At a committee meeting last March, Duarte stated that she had been looking into the finances to possibly fund an interior renovation project to make the building more conducive to holding community events.
