“Yony's journey has been one of resilience, perseverance, and growth,” said Amanda Porter, the teacher who nominated him for this award. “His dedication and hard work paid off, and today, he is on the cusp of becoming an honor roll student, with his most recent math grade being a solid 94%. That’s an A – an accomplishment he should be incredibly proud of.”

Beyond academics, Escobar has showcased impressive skills on the soccer field, recently helping his team win a county championship as a standout defenseman.
“He’s known for his positive attitude, his friendly smile in the hallways, and the genuine kindness he shows to everyone around him. All of Yony’s teachers, administrators, friends, and family admire his perseverance and the positive outlook he brings to every situation,” added Porter.
