Walmart Demolishing Roxbury Location, Will Build Bigger Store
The new store is expected to be bigger, and will open late next year.

ROXBURY, NJ — The Roxbury Walmart is slated for demolition in the coming months, and the company plans on building a bigger, better location in its spot.
Located at what's now being called The Shops at Ledgewood, the store will close on Friday, May 10, and will be demolished as soon as June. The pharmacy will close on April 26, and all prescriptions will be transferred to the Flanders location.
A new "supercenter" will be built and is expected to open during the fall of 2020. Details are still being finalized for the new store, but it's expected to be about 170,000 square feet and will include fresh and dry grocery food, electronics, an outdoor patio center.

"We’re excited to invest in the Ledgewood community. The new store will allow us to serve our loyal customers in new and better ways- we can’t wait for them to see what we have planned," a Walmart spokesperson said.
The 140 current employees will be offered temporary transfers to nearby locations until the new store is ready to open, a company spokesperson said.
