U.S. Navy Helicopters Land At Middletown South For Fleet Week Demo

Members of the U.S. armed forces gave South students a dramatic presentation on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend:

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — On the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, members of the U.S. Navy visited students at Middletown High School South.

As part of the presentation, multiple helicopters landed on the field at South and in one instance, soldiers dropped from helicopters onto the field.

This was an "Aviation Showcase" presented by the U.S. armed forces as part of Fleet Week, according to South principal Thomas Olausen.

A total of four helicopters from the U.S. Navy and Marines landed on the grounds of the high school, and soldiers demonstrated rescue techniques. Students were able to tour inside the helicopters, as well as other military display booths.

The. U.S. Navy Brass Band also did a workshop with the Middletown South band, and then both also performed. Rear Admiral Wesley McCall gave remarks to the South students and staff.
