MIDDLETOWN, NJ — As the holidays approach, the Middletown Township Public Library has a busy December line-up of fun, educational and seasonal activities for children and teens.

School-Age STEM: A Winter Wonderland – December 3 at 4:15 p.m.: For grade K-5. What would you see while "walkin' in a winter wonderland" and how long would you see? Celebrate the shortest days of the year with STEM activities exploring light and darkness. Siblings welcome with adult assistance. Register at mtpl.org.

Tween Game Night – December 3 at 7 p.m.: For ages 9-12. Bring a friend. Make a friend. Play Trivia, Bingo, Pictionary, HeadsUp and more! Register at mtpl.org.

Ornament Making – December 4 at 3:30 p.m.: Create an ornament to keep or to give as a gift. A family event that children can do with parents or grandparents. Register at mtpl.org.

Cards for a Cause – December 4 from 3-6 p.m.: Drop in to make holiday cards for Middletown seniors. Volunteer hours will be offered for each card with a limit of 5 cards for 5 hours. For ages 12- 18 in the Children’s Program Room.

Gymboree for Walkers or Babies – December 5 at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.: Gymboree of Red Bank offers gym classes for toddlers and babies. Register at mtpl.org.

Saturday Family Storytime and Craft: Gingerbread People - December 7 at 10 a.m.: For ages 3+. Fun stories about gingerbread and gingerbread cookies celebrating National Cookie Day and National Gingerbread House Day. Decorate your own six-inch-tall foam gingerbread person to enjoy all season long.

Teen Craft Program - Macrame Ornaments – December 9 at 4 p.m.: For ages 13-18. Learn how to make macrame snowflakes, just in time for winter. Register at mtpl.org.

SLP Musically with Miss Kat – December 9 at 4:30 p.m.: For ages 4-9. A fun, free, accessible drop-in music experience for children of all abilities, including AAC users, with camp songs in a sing-along style.

Holiday Show – December 9 at 6:30 p.m.: The Performing Arts Ensemble of NJ presents scenes from The Polar Express, The Snowman Adventures and more. A holiday event for the entire family. Register at mtpl.org.

Book Explorers: Dogman – December 10 at 4:15 p.m.: For grades K-5. With a new Dogman movie premiering next month, celebrate with activities based around the popular book series. For elementary school students with younger siblings accompanied by an adult. Register at mtpl.org.

Teen Murder Mystery Night – December 11 at 7 p.m.: For grades 9-12. Wear your ugliest sweater as you solve the Murder at the Ugly Sweater Party. Register at mtpl.org.

Read to a Dog – December 12 at 4 p.m. and December 16 at 6 p.m.: For independent readers in grades K-5. Improve the literacy skills of children by reading for ten minutes to a certified therapy dog. Four sessions available on each date. Register at mtpl.org.

Holiday Sing-Along with Miss Kat of SLP Musically - December 14 at 11 a.m.: Join in for a holiday sing-along in the Community Room. All are welcome. No registration is required.

Bookworms Book Club – December 19 at 4:15 p.m.: For ages 5-8. Register at mtpl.org.

Pokémon Trading Night – December 19 at 7 p.m.: For ages 8+. Trade with fellow Pokémon fans, discuss Pokémon books and movies, play the Pokémon trading card game with your own deck. No registration is required.
