UNION BEACH, NJ — The GOAT, David Burke's restaurant on Rt. 36 north in Union Beach, is permanently closed.

The restaurant closed in July. The GOAT said on its website it closed for renovations and repair, but the restaurant is actually permanently closed and will not be reopening, said a source.

"*Closed* Thank you for being such wonderful guests. We hope you'll visit us at RED HORSE in Rumson," read a statement on the GOAT's Instagram account.

Gift cards will be honored at Red Horse.

Burke opened the GOAT in spring 2022, in the building that used to house Piero's Italian restaurant. The GOAT was whimsically decorated and served Italian American and cocktails. It was meant to be a more casual, lower-priced offering than Burke's other restaurants in the area, including the upscale Red Horse.
