HIGHLANDS, NJ — If you're looking for ways to get involved and get outdoors these chilly months of December and January, here's everything the American Littoral Society has planned, either at Sandy Hook or elsewhere on the Jersey Shore:

1. Dune Grass Planting at S. Riverside Drive Living Shoreline Project
Neptune, NJ
Saturday, December 14, noon- 2 p.m.

Join the American Littoral Society to plant dune grass at the newly restored berm at their South Riverside Drive Living Shoreline Restoration Project in Neptune. RSVP on their website.

2. Sandy Hook New Year's Day Walk
Sandy Hook, NJ
Wednesday, January 1, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

"Help us ring in the new year with a brisk walk to the tip of Sandy Hook. When we get there, we will attempt to signal the group hiking with the Northeast Chapter to the end of Breezy Point. Find more information and register on our website."
