January Programs For Children, Teens At Middletown Public Library
Your elementary student can solve detective book mysteries, your tween can pop in for craft night and there's Pokémon Trading Night, too:

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Begin the new year with educational and seasonal activities for children and teens at the Middletown Township Public Library. What's planned:
Through the Looking Glass – When Fantasy Meets Science – January 7 at 4:15 p.m.: Have you ever wanted to go through a portal to a magical place or wondered *how* the magic happened? During this STEM program, we will use science to bring some magic into our world. For grades K-5. Register at mtpl.org.
Tween Game Night – January 7 at 7 p.m.: Bring a friend or make a friend and play Trivia, Bingo, Pictionary, HeadsUp and more. For ages 9-12. Register at mtpl.org.

Gymboree for Walkers or Babies – January 9 at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.: Gymboree of Red Bank offers gym classes for toddlers and babies. Register at mtpl.org.
Read to a Dog – January 9 at 4 p.m. and January 20 at 6 p.m.: Improve the literacy skills of children by reading for ten minutes to a certified therapy dog. Four sessions available each day. For independent readers in Grades K-5. Register at mtpl.org.

Book Explorers – January 14 at 4:15 p.m.: Match your detecting skills against fictional detective Cam Jansen who has solved mysteries in over 50 books. Spot clues, interview suspects, put it all together to solve the mystery. For grades K-5. Register at mtpl.org.
Cards for a Cause – January 15 from 3-6 p.m.: Drop in to make cards for Middletown seniors.
Volunteer Hours will be offered for each card with a Limit of 5 cards for 5 hours. For ages 12-18 in the Community Room.
Pokémon Trading Night – January 16 at 7 p.m.: Trade with fellow Pokémon fans, discuss Pokémon books and movies, play the Pokémon trading card game with your own deck. For ages 8+.
Family Movie Morning – January 20 at 10:30 a.m.: View "The Wild Robot" (PG, 102 minutes), based on the award-winning children’s novel by Peter Brown. Register online at mtpl.org.
Tween Book Club – January 22 at 4:15 p.m.: Make new friends while discussing El Deafo by Cece Bell. For ages 9-12. Register online at mtpl.org.
Teen String Art Program – January 22 at 7 p.m.: Create a cute “Read” sign using embroidery floss. For ages 13-18. Register online at mtpl.org.
Saturday Family Storytime – January 25 at 10 a.m.: Join us for winter and ice-skating stories. Make your own ice-skating scene decoration to hang up and enjoy all season long. For ages 3+. Register online at mtpl.org.
Tween Craft Night – January 28 at 6:45 p.m.: Create “Pebble Art” at this craft night for tweens ages 9-12. Registration is required as supplies are limited.
