Leonardo Man Arrested After Alleged Assault with Belt Buckle
Middletown Township Police arrested and charged a Leonardo man with aggravated assault in addition to other charges.

A Leonardo man faces five criminal charges, and one disorderly persons offense, after he alleged assaulted another man with a belt buckle.
Russell Dunn, 25, of Highland Avenue, was arrested by Patrolman James Beirne of the on Thursday, June 14. According to the complaint warrant, Dunn allegedly struck another man repeatedly with a belt that had a metal buckle on it.
During the same night, Dunn allegedly damaged someone’s car by striking the windshield, lamps and front license plate. Once police arrived on the scene, Dunn allegedly fled in an attempt to escape an arrest.

For these alleged actions, Dunn faces one charge of aggravated assault, one charge of weapon possession, an attempt to prevent arrest charge, and a property damage charge.
At the police station, Dunn was further charged with criminal mischief. The complaint warrant explains that while at the station, Dunn allegedly broke the cell block phone, put a blanket in the toilet, and repeatedly flushed the toliet to cause flooding in the cell. He also allegedly urinated on two blankets, a bed mat, and in the cell area while spitting throughout the cell and at the cell bars. These alleged actions were witnessed by Lieutenant John Lenge.

In addition to the criminal charges, Dunn faces one disorderly persons offense after he was allegedly found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the summons, Dunn was allegedly in possession of a glass pipe that contained crack-cocaine residue.
Dunn has been remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $65,000 bail.
