Man Accused of Resisting Arrest While Under Influence of Crack

A Middletown man was arrested and charged with four crimes including engaging in threatening and violent behavior.

Neighbors called the after a man allegedly engaged in threatening and violent behavior in the middle of a neighborhood road.

Christopher J. Newrock, 23, of Middletown, was arrested and charged Saturday, May 26 after he allegedly engaged in threatening and violent behavior causing the neighborhood residents to worry and call the police.

According to the complaint warrant, Newrock was believed to be under the influence of crack/cocaine. In addition to being charged with engaging in threatening and violent behavior, Newrock was charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance and in possession of a six inch glass pipe that contained a white powdery residue.

When MTPD arrived on the scene and arrested Newrock, he allegedly used physical force against arresting officer Patrolman Belmonte. The complaint warrant explained that Newrock resisted arrest by pushing his foot against the vehicle and pushing his head back to avoid being placed into the car. Newrock also allegedly used profanity towards Belmonte as he was being placed into the car.

Newrock has been remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $7,000 bail.
