Mater Dei Prep Sued By Student's Family
The family of a Mater Dei Prep student has named both the Catholic high school and The Diocese of Trenton in a lawsuit.

The family of a Mater Dei Prep student has named both the Catholic high school and The Diocese of Trenton in a lawsuit filed in Monmouth County Superior Court on Feb. 5.
Tyler Burns and his parents, Brian and Heather Burns, claim the school’s decision to close it’s doors after the 2014 -2015 is a breach of contract since Burns was promised a four-year education when he was recruited to the school, according tonj.com.
The family alleges that the school “ acted in bad faith” when they promised a four-year education, knowing they were running into annual deficits.

Now a junior at Mater Dei, Burns and his family claim they “lived in Florida at the time they were induced to come to the school based upon ... assertions that their son would play football and would get a scholarship to attend,” according toThe Asbury Park Press.
