Middletown Fundraising Family Staying Positive After Home Robbed While on Vacation

A warning to others using social media: the Gorsegner family say police think the thief may have been watching the charity's Facebook page.

The Middletown family of 4-year-old Natalie Grace Gorsegner, who has been battling cancer since 2012, has a warning for other social media users, after they were robbed while on vacation and believe it may be tied in to their fundraising videos.

After returning from a recent vacation, the family discovered that their home had been broken into.

According to my9nj.com, birth certificates and other personal information was stolen, as well as the engagement ring of Andrea, Natalie’s mother.

The family say that police believe the thief may have been made aware of the opportunity to break in to the home after the family had shared that they were away on vacation by posting a public picture on their public Facebook page,

The Gorsegner family have been raising funds for pediatric cancer research ever since Natalie received her own diagnosis of lymphoblastic leukemia. They have raised over $100,000, and hope to reach $150,000 soon.

“It’s really heartbreaking to think that there are people out there that one-would think we have that kind of money in our house, but two- to want to steal from a child with cancer. I mean I don’t think you get lower than that,” Andrea said, according to my9nj.com.

The Gorsegners are not allowing this set-back to stop their cause, however. Natalie has her 5th birthday next month, for which the family is hosting a “Tutu Spoiled” event to raise even more funds for childhood cancer.
