Middletown Mother Gives Hugs, 'Shirt Off Her Back' To Others

MIDDLETOWN, NJ— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

What makes your mom extra special?

What makes my mother special I bet is a very common trait among mothers. It starts with the understanding and unconditional love she’s always given to me. She is always willing to help me or anyone in need at any moment. Even in tough situations, my mother is a caring, kind, and compassionate person. She is also very honest, so she would set me straight if she believed I was wrong about something to possibly teach me to be the bigger person.

I am what you call a mama’s boy. Unfortunately, my mother has been diagnosed with stomach cancer and is currently doing chemo which is making her weak physically, but mentally she is still sharp as a tack, funny, kind, and loving. My mother loves the garden and I inherited that trait as well. She is quite the baker and used to bake cakes and cupcakes to raise money for us to have school clothes.

At this point, I just want my mother to get well so she may have many more Mother’s Days with me and our family. Happy Mother’s Day, Mom! Love, Jason.

Why do you feel your mom deserves the spotlight?

Because no matter who does her wrong, she would always help anyone at any time with open arms. She'd give the shirt off her back, the last dollar out of her pocket, or maybe just a hug to make you comfortable in tough times.
