Middletown Teen Chosen For Competitive Yale Summer Program

This is a very competitive summer program: More than 13,000 teens applied from 150 countries, and only 1,800 students were accepted.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Sydney Jones, who just completed her junior year at Middletown High School South, was accepted into the Yale Young Global Scholars 2025.

This is a very competitive summer program for teenagers: More than 13,000 teens applied from over 150 countries, and only 1,800 students were accepted. Jones, who lives in the Lincroft section of Middletown, was also awarded a partial scholarship for the program.

This is an intense two-week academic summer program from Yale University. Students live on campus at Yale University and attend a broad range of academic programs including Yale faculty lectures, symposiums, small-scale seminars and group research projects.

Jones will participate in the Politics, Law & Economics session.

She said she wanted to attend the program to learn more from Yale faculty; explore future career possibilities in the fields of law and economics and experience daily life on campus at Yale University, living with students from all over the world.

She will be a senior at Middletown High School South in the fall.
