• Growing Number Of Middletown School Board Members Refuse To Pay Certain Legal Bills (patch.com) — Middletown residents are watching a deepening rift on the local school board as several members now refuse to approve payment of legal bills tied to controversial lawsuits and policies. Disputes center on fees for Weiner Law Group, which represented the board in its failed lawsuit to bar member Joe Fitzgerald from meetings, and Padula Law Group, which handled the district’s transgender policy case. The tensions come as the district also plans to seek a new auditing firm in 2026 over political connections.
