New Banking Experience Comes to Middletown With Colonial American Bank
New local bank combines top-notch technology with strong personal relationships for a new banking experience.
may have only had its doors open in Middletown for a few months now, but they have already started changing old banking stereotypes.
Located in the corner of the Middletown Shopping Plaza off Route 35 in Middletown, Colonial American Bank may look small at first, but inside the brightly lit bank features an iPad station, large touch screen computer, cookie bar, coffee station, and comfy orange booths where customers and staff and can sit down and discuss all aspects of banking one-on-one.
“Typically when you ask somebody ‘how do you like going to the bank?’ they don’t like it, said Nancy Mazza, Executive Vice President of Retail Banking. “I challenge anyone to come in here and not like coming here. There are cookies, there are computers, and we can teach people how to use the iPads. It’s more of a family environment where we can actually sit down and get to know our customers and we support our community’s local events.”

“As much as we have a beautiful facility that is highly functional and modern what really makes us different from other banks is our staff. In this business it is really all about the people and relationships. We have the best staff that is all highly professional and skilled, Giordano explained. “By being a community bank we are very focused on relationships versus the larger banks. Customers want to be able to come to a bank and have somebody that they can talk to, have decisions made, and have loans get processed in a timely manner, and that’s what we offer. We offer the highest possible level of customer service that you will find at any bank, large and small.”
Composed of only a staff of six, Colonial American Bank has already surpassed their goals and expectations for the year within the first few months of opening their doors.
“Our staff is incredibly flexible,” explained Patricia Zilly, Middletown Branch Manager. “I have tellers that can do things that other tellers can’t do in bigger banks. All of our staff is very well versed.”
With an impressive staff and goals met, the new bank is already focusing on the future. In addition to setting new goals for the bank to surpass, the company is going forward with plans to open up another location in Shrewsbury this coming fall.
Regardless of the expansion plans, Colonial American Bank promises that the one thing it will never change is their dedication to building strong relationships with their customers.
“When it comes to the business of banking, it is all about your relationships and building them with people. A lot of the bigger banks believe that the more products you have with them causes the sticky and what keeps customers coming back, but its not. It’s the relationships and the bond you have with people who trust you and know you, that’s what is going to keep your customers coming back. Once that is gone, so is the sticky. It’s not the products, everyone has the products, but not everybody has the relationship and service and that is what we all value,” said Zilly.
