Obituary: World War II Veteran Chester William Daniel, 87

Chester William Daniel, 87, known as "Bill," of Middletown passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 after a long illness at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
Bill was born in Bloomfield to the late Leo and Esther Daniel. Bill grew up in Wanamassa and attended Asbury Park High School. He proudly served during World War II in the US Navy on board the USS Cherokee as a Motor Machinist Mate.

Bill was employed by American Blueprint and Supply Company, Asbury Park and Wanamassa as a printer for many years. He lived for many years in Oakhurst where he helped raise his family.
He was an avid sports fan and lived life with a great sense of humor.He was also a past member of the Wanamassa Fire Department. He was also predeceased by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Daniel and his sister Leila Daly.

He is survived by his son Douglas and wife Leslie, daughters; Kathy Bonanno and Nancy Stavola and husband Joseph Stavola, his grandchildren Meghan D. Widmar, Erika D. Corry, Brittany Daniel and Cpt. Ryan Daniel, Bryan Bonanno, Danielle Bonanno, Joseph Stavola IV and Robert Stavola, step granddaughters Casey and Brittany Muthard. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren, Jacob and Jonah Corry, Landon Daniel and Grace Widmar.
Bill will be reposing at Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home, 1735 Route 35, Middletown, on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 2 p.m. Cremation will be private at a later date.
