Police Out In Force On These Monmouth County Roads Thursday Afternoon

From 3 - 7 p.m. Thursday, police will be out in force looking for bad drivers on the following Monmouth County roads:

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — Heads up, Monmouth County drivers!

This Thursday afternoon, May 30, police all over Monmouth County will launch a high-visibility traffic enforcement detail on some of Monmouth County's busiest roads:

From 3 - 7 p.m. Thursday, police will be out looking for bad drivers on Rts. 33, 34, 35, 36, 18 and 71.

This was announced by Holmdel Police, who are leading the campaign, and the specific roads were revealed by NJ101.5.

"The intent of this high-visibility campaign is to confront the staggering rise in traffic deaths New Jersey has seen," said Holmdel Police. "Traffic safety culture and driving behaviors need to change in order to keep people alive on New Jersey roadways. Law enforcement agencies in Monmouth County are dedicated to lowering these numbers and keeping our roadways safe."

Police will be looking to give tickets Thursday afternoon:

Police did a similar traffic detail April 25, where law enforcement from 32 Monmouth County towns participated. This traffic detail focused on Rt. 9 and other areas. It led to three arrests (two warrant arrests; one for hindering arrest/contempt), 510 traffic stops and 345 summonses issued, which included: 27 for speeding, 2 for improper child restraints, 11 seatbelt violations, 10 DWS (driving with a suspended license), 34 tickets for use of cell phone while driving, 1 reckless driving ticket, 24 careless driving tickets, 4 for uninsured driving, and 233 other miscellaneous moving and non-moving violations.

As of May 28, New Jersey has had 244 traffic-related deaths in 2024. That’s a 21.4 percent increase over the same time frame last year; 25 of these deaths have occurred in Monmouth County, said Holmdel Police.
