"It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our Port Monmouth store will be permanently closing on or about October 24," they said. "We are so thankful for the support and kindness this community has shown us over the years, and we truly hope to see you at our other locations in Atlantic Highlands and Red Bank."

Circus Foodtown is a family-owned chain of four supermarkets in this corner of Monmouth County. Circus Foodtowns are owned by the Scaduto and Azzolina families. They also own the 52-acre Calico the Evil Clown property on Rt. 35 in Middletown, under their development company Mountain Hill. Toll Brothers is already building in the back half (Middletown Walk); the front half of that lot, facing Rt. 35, remains in a legal dispute with Middletown Township.
