Resident Arrested After Allegedly Possessing 64 Baggies of Heroin
A Middletown man faces five charges including heroin possession and aggravated assault against an enforcement officer

The arrested and charged a Middletown man on Friday after he was allegedly found in possession of 64 baggies of heroin.
Eric N. Collins, 33, of Middletown Road, allegedly possessed the baggies of heroin and intented to distribute the controlled dangerous substance. According to the complaint warrant, Collins allegedly attempted to distribute the heroine within 500 feet of in Middletown.
In addition to the possession, intent to distribute, and attempt to distribute near a public park charges, Collins was charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest after he allegedly struggled with a law enforcement officer who was arresting him. The complaint warrant explains that during the struggle, the officer’s right hand was injured.

Collins has been remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $105,000 bail. His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday, July 2.
