Thompson Middle School PFA in Middletown to Host 34th Annual Granny's Attic
This popular event has been taking place for several years in Middletown- you don't want to miss it!

The 34th Annual Granny’s Attic Craft Show is only a few short weeks away, on November 22nd. This craft show is a much-anticipated community event, traditionally held the Saturday before Thanksgiving, at Thompson Middle School, located at 1001 Middletown-Lincroft Road in Middletown, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
There will be over 200 crafters exhibiting at the show this year, many who travel from New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and from all over New Jersey. If you are looking for that unique, one-of-a-kind, gift to give to someone special this holiday season, you are sure to find it at Granny’s Attic! You will find items in a variety of categories, such as jewelry, art, womens accessories, children’s items, silk & dried flowers, Christmas, wood, stained-glass, hand-knits, food, candles, ceramics, soaps, and sports items, just to name a few.
A large number of crafters have been exhibiting at the Granny’s Attic Craft Show for many years, and have become an integral part of this community event. If you have shopped at Granny’s Attic in the past, then you are familiar with “Buckle Your Belt”, from Boca Raton, FL, who sell the most beautiful, hand-made belt buckles that you’ll ever encounter. Then there’s “Dockside Decorations”, from King George, VA, who create amazing Christmas ornaments out of sea shells, in all different themes. Let’s not forget your family pets this holiday season! “Jersey Dog/Krazy 4 Cookies”, from Pasadena, Maryland, will be back this year with her home-made gourmet dog treats and decorated cookies! Our fudge lovers will be happy to hear that “Teachers Recipe Gourmet Fudge”, from Whiting, New Jersey, will be returning with a huge selection of different fudge flavors, “Bella Hues” from Oradell, NJ, will be back with their original, hand-painted glass ornaments, and many more crafters from north Jersey and all the way down from the Jersey Shore.

Michele Glynn, Granny’s Attic Chairperson and parent at Thompson Middle School, along with the PFA Executive Board, have been working tirelessly for months in planning this event. Mrs. Glynn relates that this event could not take place without the support of Thompson’s administrators, Matthew Kirkpatrick, Principal, and Michael Melando, Assistant Principal, and the entire Thompson community. Everyone at Thompson has a significant role: Thompson parent volunteers run the Granny’s Kitchen, Bake Shop, and Raffle, which include both an hourly 50/50 raffle, and the Super 50/50 Grand Raffle. Keith Hammond and all of Thompson’s custodians, are instrumental in prepping the building for the heavy traffic flow of shoppers walking through the nine different entrance doors located in various parts of the building. Thompson students and Middletown High School South students help with decorating, set-up and miscellaneous duties throughout the day, and earn community service hours. Middletown High School South Art Students also hand-painted shopping bags, which are very popular and sell out quickly.
The Granny’s Attic Craft Show is Thompson Middle School’s only fundraiser. The Thompson PFA has been able to purchase items such as smartboards, Chrome books, gym equipment, a state-of-the art large screen projector, and most recently, a digital LED sign, purchased from Stewart Signs, in Sarasota, FL. The Thompson PFA has also awarded teacher grants in all departments to support the educational needs of all students.
