WAYNE, NJ — A Tinton Falls man has been charged with invasion of privacy after police in Wayne say he filmed another man in the bathroom of a JCPenney.

Officers were called to the store on the afternoon of Friday, Jan. 10. The caller told police he was in a bathroom stall when someone "reached under the front door of the stall with a cell phone."

The man could "clearly see" the screen was activated and facing him while recording, said Wayne Police Detective Captain Dan Daly in a news release.

The man said he made a noise, and the person moved the phone away. But, the man said the phone then reappeared from under the stall next to his.

At this point, the man came out of the stall and confronted the suspect, whom police identified as Richard Jones-Johnson, 35, of Tinton Falls. According to Daly, the victim physically struck Jones-Johnson and asked him to delete the video, which he did, after apologizing.
