What's Happening in Middletown: Free Rabies Clinic, Shadow Lake Pesticides Treatment, and More
Here is a list of different events or town activity you should know.

Shadow Lake Herbicide Application September 8
In an effort to control excessive growth of waterborne plant life, aquatic herbicidal treatments will be performed at Shadow Lake. The approximate treatment area includes the inlet section of the lake near Stevenson Park and extends eastwardly to portions downstream and along the shoreline of Shadow Lake.
The initial application was conducted on June 9, and a follow-up herbicide application will be applied on or about September 8, weather permitting. The purpose of this second application is to treat plants that were washed free of herbicide by incidental boat traffic. This application will be completed in one day.
The applicable drinking water restrictions and water use restrictions are listed below:

- Swimming - NO Restriction
- Fishing - NO Restriction
- Irrigation - NO Restriction
- Livestock Watering - NO Restriction
- Human Consumption Days - Half-mile from potable water or turn intakes off for 48 hours
Residents and property owners bordering the lake and visitors to Shadow Lake will be required to follow the posted drinking water restrictions and water use restrictions as indicated above, and should make necessary arrangements during the restriction period.

Free Rabies Clinic for Cats ONLY September 13
The Middletown Township Health Department will hold a cats ONLY free rabies clinic on September 13, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Croydon Hall Gym, 900 Leonardville Rd., Leonardo, NJ 07737. All cats must be in a cat carrier (only one per carrier) and accompanied by an adult. Middletown Township residents may purchase the new 2014 license at the clinic. The free clinic is open to all Monmouth County residents. Call (732) 615-2097 or (732) 615-2094 for more information before clinic date.
W. Front Street Work - New Construction Hours
NJ Natural Gas continues to work on W. Front St. between Half Mile Road and the W. Front St. bridge. Beginning Wednesday, September 3, construction hours change to weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. since school will be back in session. This NJ Natural Gas construction project is expected to continue through November 2014. Traffic delays are expected. Please use alternate routes. Detour signs are posted.

Middletown Day Coming September 27th
Sponsors, Volunteers Needed
This year Middletown Day returns to the Great Lawn at Croydon Hall on Saturday, September 27 to mark the end of a year-long celebration of the township’s founding 350 years ago. The fall festival will be held from noon to 6 p.m., followed by an anniversary concert and fireworks. The festival will feature a Middletown 350 anniversary cake created by the legendary Cake Boss Buddy Valastro, the Business and Community Showcase, bouncy houses, a food court and more. An outdoor concert begins at 6 p.m. followed by fireworks at dark.
Sponsors are needed to help celebrate all that makes Middletown special. Sponsorships begin at $100. The benefits of sponsorship increase with the sponsorship. They include a place in the Business and Community Showcase, recognition in promotional materials and more. Donations are tax-deductible. Volunteers are also needed at Middletown Day. Civic, fraternal, community and school groups are welcome and encouraged to participate. Youth volunteers must be in the 7th grade or higher.
