MILLBURN, NJ — Millburn police arrested three people after someone allegedly tried to impersonate a customer and make a large cash withdrawal from a local bank earlier this week, authorities said Monday.
The Millburn Police Department released the following details about the arrests, which took place on April 2:
“Millburn police responded to a report of check fraud at M&T Bank, located at 62 Main Street, following an incident involving a male suspect impersonating a bank customer. The suspect provided a fake ID and attempted to deposit a check and requested a large cash withdrawal. However, the bank declined the transaction, and the suspect fled the scene in a grey BMW 530. Millburn Officer Dalakian located the suspect's vehicle on Millburn Avenue, where a stop was initiated. This led to the arrest of three individuals: Sherrir Rupertt, 24, and Juzan Spence, 29, both from the Bronx, NY, and Erik Wells, 54, from Pennsylvania.”
All three suspects were charged with multiple offenses, including identity theft, forgery, credit card theft and conspiracy, police said.
